Large Crowds at Maryland and Central Ohio Chapter Conferences

It is conference season for many ACFE chapters, and two of the largest chapter conferences in the U.S. occurred in May. The Maryland Chapter’s Maryland Fraud Conference 2015 had an attendance of more than 525, May 4-5 at Martin’s West in Baltimore. The following week, the Central Ohio Chapter’s 2015 Emerging Trends in Fraud Conference attracted more than 680 attendees at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Columbus.

I recently attended the Middle Tennessee Chapter’s 19th Annual Fraud Conference, March 9-10 at the One Century Place Conference Center in Nashville. 

More than 250 attendees from around the state were at the event which featured presentations by ACFE Regent Tiffany Couch, CFE, CPA/CFF, former Regent Don Mullinax, CFE, CIA and ACFE faculty member Walter Manning, CFE.

In early 2013, the Austin Area Chapter was using its fourth restaurant in eight years, a local fried seafood restaurant, for our lunch and full-day fraud education events. Over the years we had steadily grown from a monthly lunch attendance of about 20 members up to about 50 members per event, and occasionally we were hitting spikes of attendance of up to 70 or 80 members at a time.
