Fraud Conference Europe Draws Large Crowd

The 2017 ACFE Fraud Conference Europe was held in London last month, with more than 225 attendees from 36 countries present. The ACFE thanks all of the European chapters for promoting the conference and the members from the U.K. Chapter who volunteered their time and assisted on-site.

Along with multiple breakout speakers, keynote presentations covered a multitude of topics. Keynote speakers included Liseli Pennings, CFE, ACFE Training Director, attorney Mark Livschitz, and Kweku Adoboli, convicted fraudster and UBS rogue trader.

Headlining our stellar keynote speaker lineup was Clare Rewcastle Brown, Editor-in-Chief of the Sarawak Report and the investigative journalist who uncovered the Malaysian 1MDB corruption scandal. She described how her investigation into deforestation in Malaysia led her to discover corruption in local companies, politicians and the Malaysian government.

This year we offered European chapters one complimentary registration for a chapter leader in exchange for helping promote the conference. This enabled Tim Harvey to organize a Chapter Leaders Networking Reception where he met the local leaders, listened to concerns, offered suggestions and discussed upcoming initiatives.

Attendees at this year’s conference received an exclusive first looks at the Report to the Nations regional reports for Western Europe and Eastern Europe & Western/Central Asia. The latest regional report highlights fraud trends and statistics specific to these regions.
