Fraud Week 2022 Recap
/International Fraud Awareness Week, or Fraud Week, was established in the year 2000 as a dedicated time to raise awareness about fraud. We are delighted to see more organizations and ACFE sign up and support Fraud Week. This year, more than 1,350 organizations representing 114 countries signed up to raise fraud awareness and share anti-fraud education with people in their communities and workplaces. Also, 47 chapters signed up as supporters which was 15 more than our previous record. We want to thank all involved in helping make the 2022 International Fraud Awareness Week so successful.
As we have done in previous years, the ACFE continues to add to the library of free resources available to promote fraud awareness by creating two new video resources, including an animated video on elder fraud and a testimonial of convicted fraudsters. ACFE President and CEO Bruce Dorris also recorded a short training video for any chapter that signed up to support Fraud Week which many chapters played during their Fraud Week events. There were also new infographics from Occupational Fraud 2022: A Report to the Nations and a podcast interview and discussion with Bruce Dorris.
In addition to the free resources that ACFE provided our chapters, many chapters held their own events and fraud awareness campaigns in their workplace and communities. Below are just a few of the events our chapters organized:
Lebanon Chapter – Daily podcasts throughout the week on various fraud topics
New York Chapter – Panel discussion on “The Changing Landscape of Elder Fraud”
Maryland Chapter – Organized a half-day training event on Root Cause Analysis
South Africa Chapter – Organized a free half-day event
Italy Chapter – Held a webinar on Procurement Fraud Schemes
You can see more about the events hosted by Fraud Week supporting organizations on the Fraud Week events page. You can also find all the new resources that are free to use, share and download on the resources page.
Thank you again to all the chapters that supported Fraud Week this year. We’re looking forward to spreading more fraud awareness next year for International Fraud Awareness Week 2023, November 12-18!
