Fraud Week 2023 Recap
/On November 12-18, 2023, the ACFE celebrated the 24th Annual International Fraud Awareness Week, or Fraud Week. Fraud Week is dedicated to raising awareness about fraud within your organization and local community. This year, nearly 1,800 organizations from 148 countries signed up to raise fraud awareness and share anti-fraud education. This was more than 400 more organizations than last year. In addition, 61 chapters signed up as supporters, which was 14 more than last year’s record. We want to thank all involved in helping make the 2023 International Fraud Awareness Week so successful.
As in previous years, the ACFE continues to add to the library of free resources available to promote fraud awareness. This year, we added new videos and infographics, a new guide entitled “Creating Ethical Workplaces to Prevent Fraud” and more. ACFE President John Gill also recorded a short video for chapters that signed up to support Fraud Week that many chapters played during their Fraud Week events.
In addition to the free resources that the ACFE provided for chapters, many chapters held their own events and fraud awareness campaigns in their workplace and communities. Below are just a few of the events our chapters organized:
Indonesia Chapter – Held a TikTok competition for college students who made videos about anti-corruption, the free tree and examples of fraud in their community
Twin Cities & Central Ohio Chapters – Held a joint event on the Wirecard scandal
Austria Chapter – Webinar on generative AI and ethics in fraud prevention and detection
DC Metro Chapter – In-person event about the dark web
Cyprus Chapter – Virtual event on recognizing red flags
You can see more about the events hosted by Fraud Week supporting organizations on the Fraud Week events page. You can also find all the new resources that are free to use, share and download on the resources page.
Thank you again to all the chapters that supported Fraud Week this year. We’re looking forward to spreading more fraud awareness next year for the 25th Annual International Fraud Awareness Week, November 17-23, 2024!
