Sign Up and Support Fraud Week 2018

As many of you know, International Fraud Awareness Week, November 11-17, 2018, is when organizations and individuals come together to show their dedication to preventing fraud. Many of you signed up last year and we would love to extend the invitation to sign up again this year. As an ACFE chapter, you are an important ambassador for fraud awareness, and joining in Fraud Week efforts helps demonstrate that to the public.

You can support Fraud Week in any way you choose — whether you want to volunteer members of your chapter as experts to talk to different groups in the community, share Fraud Week badges on your social media feeds or host an event. The first step to getting involved is for your chapter to sign up as a supporter at FraudWeek.com. Once you’ve signed up, please use any of the resources we’ve provided to help bolster your activities. Here are some of the newest resources we’ve added this year for your use:

  • A new interactive quiz — Do you know your fraud facts? Whether it’s how money is laundered or how to implement a fraud response plan, test yourself, or your team’s knowledge with this quiz.

  • Explainer videos — The ACFE will be releasing two new animated videos explaining how people steal identities and a PSA on fraud. The videos are designed to loop and can be embedded in social media, news stories, presentations or webpages.

  • Host an event with a game or challenge — This year, the ACFE has purchased a limited amount of Fraud Week branded giveaways (small flashlights and pens) for supporters to use as prizes for their events. If you are interested in obtaining some of these giveaway prizes, contact the ACFE’s public information officer Sarah Hofmann, CFE, at SHofmann@ACFE.com. Please describe your event and indicate the number of prizes you would like. These will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis to participants hosting interactive, educational events.

Also, remember to submit any events your chapter is holding to the events page on FraudWeek.com so we can help promote them. No matter how your chapter chooses to use this week, any work you do will help to reduce and mitigate fraud risk.
