More than 90 chapter leaders attended the Chapter Leaders Meeting at the 30th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference. Presentations were given by Vancouver Chapter President, Steve Wilson, CFE; Rhode Island Chapter President, Evan Lemoine, CFE; and New York Chapter President Chelsea Binns, CFE. At the meeting, we discussed different benefits chapters offer their members, document retention policies, issues that may affect your upcoming event, and more.
Scholarship Fundraising Challenge
It was another record-breaking year as ACFE chapters raised more than $88,000 in the 2019 Scholarship Challenge. Donations support the Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship Program. Thank you to all ACFE chapters that helped make the 2019 Scholarship Fundraising Challenge so successful.
New Directors & Officers (D&O) Insurance Provider
When the ACFE learned our insurance carrier was going to be dropping the D&O insurance for our chapter leaders, we quickly located a new carrier for our chapters without any lapse of coverage.
Other Accomplishments
The Hong Kong Chapter celebrated their 20th anniversary by organizing the 20th Anniversary Conference.
The Dallas Area Chapter increased its involvement in the Dallas/Fort Worth community. They had a successful canned food drive and toy drive supporting local organizations. They’ve also given lectures at local universities and hosted seminars at local assisted-living facilities and a local church discussing risks of elder fraud.
The Montreal Chapter held a contest for student members. Participants were asked to explain their interest in the fraud profession. The student with the best letter received a complimentary CFE Exam Prep Course® provided by the chapter.
The Greece Chapter held a sold-out conference in Athens to celebrate Fraud Week.
The Northeast Ohio Chapter held its annual ethics training event at Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians. Afterward, the chapter had special permission to take a group photo in the stands under the 2019 All-Star logo.
The Jamaica Chapter held its first training event in November 2019. Nearly 200 people attended from a variety of industries.
The Georgia ACFE Chapter provided a complimentary CFE Exam Prep Course® to five working professionals. Candidates had to meet requirements to sit for the CFE Exam and go through an application process.
European and Canadian chapters helped the ACFE promote the 2019 ACFE Fraud Conference Canada and ACFE Fraud Conference Europe in Montreal & Zurich, respectively. With their help, the European conference nearly sold out with 300 attendees and the Canadian conference had an attendance record of more than 340 attendees.
The ACFE recognized chapters that donated to the ACFE Foundation at the 30th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference in Austin. Chapters that donated $10,000 or more were presented an award during the Chapter Leaders Meeting.
The ACFE researched website solutions for ACFE chapters that offer discounts to groups. Nearly 40 ACFE chapters are currently taking advantage of these discounts.
More than 30 chapters supported International Fraud Awareness Week. Many of those chapters hosted a variety of creative learning activities. The Dallas Area Chapter secured more than 20 proclamations from local politicians. The Central Ohio Chapter led a billboard campaign called, “The Cost of Fraud,” posting ads throughout the city spreading the message that little white lies lead to big consequences.
We would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting ACFE initiatives and volunteering your time to provide assistance to ACFE members. You provide an invaluable service to the anti-fraud community around the globe. We look forward to another great year and more accomplishments in 2020.
